The purpose of a DI-Box is the "interfacing" of musical instruments or other signal sources to the "microphone" format of a mixing desk. To do so, it provides three major technical aspects:
First: It provides balancing to unbalanced signals
Microphone signal lines are balanced and therefore have great immunity of catching distorting signals than unbalanced signal lines.
Second: It provides galvanic isolation between source and mixer
Galvanic isolation eliminates ground-loop distortion noises without compromising electric safety standards like chassis grounding of the involved equipment.
Third: It provides impedance matching between the instrument and mic input
Hallo Michael,
die DI Box ist angekommen, habe sie gestern mal in Ruhe im Studio ausprobiert und bin sehr angetan, klingt für Bass tatsächlich besser als der DI-Eingang meiner APIs.
Bin gespannt auf die ersten Shows.
Ist die Box auch für Akustikgitarre sinnvoll (da passiv)? Oder hast Du da eine andere gut Lösung? Es geht um live, die Gitarre ist nichts besonderes, eine normale Mittelklasse-Gitarre mit Piezo-Pickup, würde es sich lohnen, dafür noch eine DI-Box anzuschaffen? Hast Du überhaupt noch welche auf Lager?
Über eine schnelle Antwort würde ich mich freuen, da der Tourstartnäher rückt.

Dear Michael,
Yesterday I received the di box, and it really is a beautiful device, both visually and sonically!
I made some test recordings with my Fichter electric upright bass, and I really have the impression that I can hear "deeper" into the sound, that it has a more 3D character. Dynamically, too, the sound has improved drastically. So all in all, I am deeply satisfied and happy with my purchase!
